Progress version 2.0.0

Hi Folks,

so during development I dropped support for Android version below 5.0 since there are lot of features which are simply not available on devices running Android version below 5.0 (lollipop). I checked the stats, and only about 70 devices running domRemote uses Android version smaller than 5.0. So these devices will not get the 2.0.0 update as long as they update the Android to 5.0 or get a new device with a newer Android.

Sorry for that, but the majority uses already Android 6 or 7, which gives more features in the application.

I post you some newer pictures about the progress, it is starting to look good, hope you will like it! 🙂

Version 2.0.0

Dear All,

I decided to face-lift the app a little bit. It’s been a while I created the app, and back then the look and feel of the Android was a bit “ugly”. Meanwhile the UI has been updated a lot, and the applications are looking much better now with default Android UI settings. Also several new components were added to the UI, like navigation drawer, action bar, etc.

So with the next major update I’m going to do a lot of UI enhancement, rework and modification. With this I will drop support for older Android versions, so the new version will not be installable for devices having an Android version below 4.4 KitKat (API version 19). I checked but most of you already are using 5.0+ devices, so I hope it will not affect many of you.

So there will be some features, which will be removed, like background image, distributor settings, and there will be no image supported on device controller bars. However there can be images on “custom” controller bars (like room grouping bars) and also they can have a “room image” which will be displayed at the top of the page.

There will be also a navigation bar, pullable from the left of the screen, which will have a tree structure of your house hierarchy for easy and fast access. Along with this update I will introduce the “Profile” feature to have support for unlimited number of profiles. You will be able to select the desired profile when the app starts (if having more than one) and you can switch between profiles while in the app. There will be an option to set a Wifi SSID for the profile, and if you are on that Wifi network, it will automatically select the associated profile without asking. You will be able to set up the application differently for every profile (different connection, device layout, pictures, etc).

Some screenshots from current development stage (there is still much to be done):

Please if you have time, leave a short comment whether you like the new UI or not, or if you have some ideas for it.

Version 1.1.33 out

Dear All,

version 1.1.33 has been published on the play store. It contains updates Dropbox library, since the old v1 API will be shut down tomorrow.

The Dropbox import/export should work like before, but probably you have to re-enable the application to your Dropbox account. For this, use the “Dropbox account” menu item in the Export/Import schema section.

I plan some changes on the application, I plan to add support for profiles, where you can have multiple profiles (settings and schema), so if you have Domintell system in your home, office and weekend house you can have separate schema for it, and you can change it easily within the application.

I also plan to add a “Coming home” function, where the application would track your GPS position, and in case you are near of your home, it would automatically open your gate and/or garage door, turn on the lights, etc.

Please comment below, if you find there two features useful. If there is demand, I will start to investigate how I could solve these features.

Version 1.1.29 out

Dear All,

the new version 1.2.29 has been placed on the Play Store.

It has now a new About dialog, where you can check the version of your software and also read the release notes again, if you missed it.

But more important are following changes:

  • the DIN10V module now supports two modes. The first one is like before, you can use the DIN10V module as a Temperature regulator, assign profiles, etc. The second mode is now a Temperature output mode, where no Temperature profile is assigned, but the temperature is calculated from the 0/1-10V value. You need to define the range of your temperature scale (eg. min: -30°C, max: 100°C) and then the acutal temperature will be calculated based on the measured value and the given range.
  • There has been a bug in the Network Service, which kept the service alive, even when it should have been destroyed. This caused, that even if you quit domRemote, and you did not have a Widget on your screen, and set a Service idle time to not infinitive, the connection to the Domintell Master was alive, and the Service tried to reconnect continously while you were walking on the streets, etc. This resulted probably in some battery drain, and extra network traffic. The bug is hopefully now fixed, and the service should be destroyed after the idle period.
  • Fixed some other FC-s reported through the Android Framework

Hope you enjoy the new features and fixes!

Have a good day!

domRemote v1.1.27 on the Play Store

Dear All,

the new version 1.1.27 comes with a few small changes.

First it gives support for DALI interface module and the DPBL0x buttons (Lithoss range buttons).

Secondly the IP camera handling was modified a little bit. You still can add custom IP cameras, but also the IP cameras registered with the Master are listed now in the Modul list, and you can add the DVIP0x cameras as controller. These cameras support JPG picture, and the URL is also copied into the Controller Editor, meaning you can watch the JPG picture of the DVIP0x camera from domRemote.

On newer Android versions (3.1+, API version 12+) RTSP video stream is also available, therefore you can add IP cameras with RTSP support (MPEG4 video stream). However capturing still images from an RTSP video stream might not work at all, as the code relays on libraries implemented by various manufacturers, so taking a pictrue might work on a Samsung device, but not working on a HTC or so.

There has been some change in the Landscape layout for the 10″+ devices, the listview has been replaced with a 2 column gridview (check out the updated pictures on the Play Store for 10″ tablets). I hope this will give a little bit more overview about the controllers, and give a better user experience.

The AMP modul controller (Radio module) was bad on extra large screens, this has also now been fixed.

domRemote v 1.1.26 is out

Hi Folks,

I just published the version 1.1.26. After a few hours I will also publish the domRemote License Key application. These two work together, so if you would like to purchase the License Key, please first upgrade domRemote to version 1.1.26! With previous versions the licensing won’t work! (if you purchase the license key first by mistake, don’t panic, just update domRemote to version 1.1.26)

I hope everything will be fine, however this is my first application which uses the Google Licensing service, so if something goes wrong, please contact me ASAP: domremote [at]

Those who have already an activation key: you do not need to do anything, just use the activation key provided from me.

domRemote v 1.1.25 back to the Play Store

Dear All,

please be informed that the domRemote software has been republished in the Play Store (and should be available within hours). It has however a new package, so you are not able to update your existing installation to the new version. Instead back up all your settings and data to your dropbox account or the SD card, uninstall the old version, and install the new version from the play store.

In order to use the full features either you need to buy the domRemote License from the Play Store (coming within a couple of weeks), or if you already had an Activation Key, you still can use this with the application.

To use your free (old) activation key, which you already have, go to the Settings -> Import / Export schema section, there the topmost menu item (Enter free key) is the place where you can enter you free activation key you already have. Should you need an other free activation key, the Device ID is also listed there, contact me for it as usual.

The old activation and payment mechanism is no longer available!!! It has been replaced by the Play Strore licensing.

Should you have any question, you can contact me any time using the support e-mail address: domremote [at]
